The laser hair removal process at AW Plastic Surgery starts with a consultation. During this time, we’ll ask you about your medical history, check your skin type, and discuss your hair removal goals. This is also the time for you to ask any questions you have. We are more than happy to address all your questions.

Next is treatment. We use the Sciton BBL system. While most patients tolerate treatment quite well, we can apply a topical anesthetic if needed. The laser treatment typically feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin.

During treatment, the BBL system will deliver targeted energy to the hair follicles in the treatment area. The laser damages the hair follicle, limiting or completely stopping its ability to grow hair. How long treatment takes depends on the size of the treatment area or the number of areas being treated.

After treatment, you will likely notice some redness or sensitivity, which will ease on its own in the following days. To ensure optimal results, you’ll want to keep the treatment area out of the sun, avoid applying irritating products, avoid swimming, moisturize regularly, and stay hydrated.

Results typically take a few weeks to a few months to show up, and many patients need 3-6 treatment sessions to achieve their hair removal goals, as we want to target the hair follicles when they are in their growth phase. 

You will notice your hair starts to shed a week or so after each treatment, and if it does grow back, it will be much lighter. Results can be permanent, but maintenance treatment may be needed to keep up the results.
